I thrive on the challenges and rewards of community and private art commissions. I painted four different utility boxes in Pleasanton and Dublin: “Children at Play,” “Hummingbirds," "Pedals in the Wind” and "The Wheel." Each utility box reflects the culture of the neighborhood. For example, located near a park, “Children at Play” exemplifies the spirit of the park where children joyfully eat ice cream and play together. "Pedals in the Wind" is located on a multi-use bicycle route and "The Wheel" is located on the historic Lincoln highway.
My art visually narrates stories. After painting two dozen whirling dervishes on walls and windows of two local restaurants, I feel I traveled to Turkey and back. I am grateful the Sufi dancers invited me into their realm and transported me into a different world, full of sweet cumin blends and mythical setar music. Six different dancers from around the world adorn the walls of a private hallway I painted, welcoming guests into the home. Panels of a pirate ship and mermaid adorned the stage during a live Peter Pan theater production. Children encounter a variety of local animals I painted on large storage crates in the children’s section of Alviso Adobe’s Milking Barn. A forest scene I painted on a private bedroom wall, invites visitors to listen to bird songs on a cold, winter day. My murals on walls, crates, windows and utility boxes tell stories about cultures, communities and friendships.
