I paint portraits that are alive with personality, capturing the unique and dynamic character of the main subject(s).

I paint from photographs so it's very important to have high quality reference pictures in good, natural lighting, showing correct colors. I prefer working from photographs to avoid the inconvenience and often expense associated with sittings. I use the agreed upon photograph(s) as a reference to hand draw the composition onto a canvas. I then paint on top of my own drawing.

TIPS FOR TAKING REFERENCE PICTURES

My oil paintings are painted on professionally stretched, gallery style canvas that can be hung unframed or custom framed by you.

I use the finest quality Winsor and Newton Artisan oils for my portraits for longer lasting color that will stay true when dry.
